After Wondolowski's historic first-half hat trick, many soccer sites are ranking him higher and higher as this tournament goes on. From MLSsoccer.com, Greg Seltzer ranked Wondo with the highest score on the team with a 7.5. On ESPN.com, they ranked him a high 9, again the best on the team for his two diving headers to finish. On Pro Soccer Talk, he is climbing up the striking depth chart with an 8, again the highest rank on the team.
Clearly this is Wondo's time to shine, and he is not dulling out anytime soon. After that first half, Wondo came out sporting a new jersey with just as many "w's" in his last name as goals scored, which media and fans thought was very fitting.
From his first international goal on Friday to a stunning first half hat-trick against Belize, it sure looks like Wondo isn't stopping for the USMNT.
And, really, we can't blame U.S. Soccer for misspelling his last name as Wondowlowski. A goal for each W. They knew it was coming.
Following a 6-0 rout of Guatemala last Friday, Klinsmann's squad is ready to begin Gold Cup play. The USMNT face tournament first-timer Belize in Portland tonight.
Wondolowski, who tallied his first international goal on Friday, and recent Quakes signee and USMNT veteran Goodson, who also scored for the red, white and blue last week, will both be in the mix to help Klinsmann's squad to victory.
Be sure to cheer on our guys tonight. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. PT on Fox Soccer. Don't watch alone: find your watch party at one of our preferred pub partners.
Thanks to the Ron Burgundy and Anchorman, we have a headline for Friday's USMNT 6-0 romping of Guatemala: the USMNT stay classy in San Diego.
Helping them stay classy were two Earthquakes in the mix. Clarence Goodson, the newest Quake and veteran USMNT defender, saw his fourth USMNT goal on Friday, and Quake captain Chris Wondolowski scored his first goal in the Red, White and Blue. Congratulations to both on a standout performance.
The USMNT begin Gold Cup play on July 9 vs. Belize, kickoff at 8 p.m. PT on Fox Soccer.
Happy Supporters Week, Quakes fans!

Saturday night was a special night for everyone at California Clasico, but it but it was a little sweeter for one little boy and his mother.
Jackson Fyffe, 5, went to the game expecting to score the first ceremonial goal before the game. However, he was rewarded with so much more than just a goal.
Jackson's mother, Lt. Colonel Celene Fyfee, surprised him on the field after being deployed in Afghanistan since December. The reunion was a complete surprise for Jackson, and as you can see from these photos and video- it was nothing short of amazing.
Jackson still got to score the first goal like he planned, but his mom scored it with him.
Marvin Chavez taught a little lesson to the Galaxy on Saturday.
And laughed about it.
It's the GIF(t) that keeps giving.
Saturday's match was one for the history books.
