Former Earthquakes goalkeeper and currect Earthquakes announcer, Joe Cannon, visited Willow Glen High School on Thursday as part of the Quakes and the University of California's partnership to promote the importance of a college education. 

Cannon, a Los Altos native, talked to the College and Career Center at the high school about how it's never too early to start planning for college and how the University of California system can be for everyone.

Congratulations to our affiliate, Sacramento Republic FC, for advancing to the USL Pro finals!

On Saturday, Sacramento Republic FC faced LA Galaxy II in the semifinals. Thanks to Charlie Rugg, the Galaxy led 2-0 to end the first half. Quakes forward Adam Jahn who is on loan to Republic FC played the first 45 minutes.

Republic FC came out in the second half fighting – and it paid off. After two converted penalty kicks from Rodrigo Lopez, the match was knotted at 2-2 going into stoppage time. Lopez completed the comeback and finished off his hat trick by bending a free kick around the Galaxy’s wall into the back of the net. After the 3-2 win, Republic FC will advance to the USL Pro Championship, hosting Harrisburg City Islanders on Saturday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m.

2015 will mark the 20th season of Major League Soccer. The league has introduced MLS Next, which includes new clubs, new media partnerships, new stadiums and new stars. 

The crest represents the next phase of MLS' vision of being one of the best leagues in the world by 2022.

Each club has its own version of the crest that displays their team colors. These crests will be on teams' uniforms in the 2015 season.

Meet Jordan Stewart, test drive a BMW and score tickets to a Earthquakes match!

In a partnership with BMW, the Quakes are holding a test drive event with player Jordan Stewart. On September 23, Stewart will be at BMW of San Francisco from 5:00-6:30 p.m. 

At this apperance, fans will come and meet Stewart and take pictures and get autographs. Fans that test drive a BMW will receive two tickets to an Earthquakes home match!

Six-year-old Kapri Geernaert has been attending Earthquakes game for the last four years with her family. She was diagnosed with brain cancer (Medulloblastoma) in June 2014. She had surgery and has spent the last month in Memphis undergoing radiation and and chemotherapy. 

Kapri will be attending Sunday's match against LA Galaxy. She will watch warm-ups from the sideline, be in the escorts, be in a photo with the starting eleven and meet the team post-game. She is leaving directly after the meet and greet to the airport to fly to St. Jude in Memphis, Tennessee to receive chemotherapy for the next seven months. 

Sunday's match is also Childhood Cancer Awareness Night. Fans can receive yellow ribbons throughout Buck Shaw Stadium. The starting eleven are wearing black shirts with yellow ribbons and soccer kicks cancer scarves before the match. Coaches will be wearing soccer kicks cancer scarves as well. The team will also wear yellow ribbons on their uniforms during the match. All merchandise stands will have donation boxes that fans can donate $1 to receive a paper ribbon to pin up on the merchandise trailor.
