2013 Earthquakes Open Tryout FAQ

  1. When is the Tryout taking place?

    1. Saturday, January 19
    2. Players will be divided into one of three heats:

      1. Heat One: 8:00- 9:30 AM
      2. Heat Two: 9:45-11:15
      3. Heat Three: 11:30 – 1:00 PM.
  2. Where is the Tryout taking place?

    1. Mustang Soccer Complex, 4680 Camino Tassajara, Danville, CA 94506
  3. How far is that from Santa Clara?

    1. About an hour drive from Buck Shaw Stadium.
  4. How do I sign up for the Tryout?

    1. You can sign up online, over the phone or at the Earthquakes offices. To sign up online please visit SJEarthquakes.com/Tryout.
  5. How many people are allowed to sign up?

    1. The Earthquakes are accepting the first 200 applicants.
  6. How much does it cost?

    1. $100.
  7. If I fill out my application over the phone, how do I pay?

    1. If you sign up over the phone, you need to pay by credit card.
  8. If I don’t have a credit card, how can I sign up?

    1. You can come into the Earthquakes office and sign up in person. Then we will accept cash or check. You need to pay in person if you want to pay by cash or check.
  9. Can I send a check?

    1. No. The Earthquakes will not accept payment through the mail.
  10. How will I know if I’m one of the first 200 applicants?

    1. You will receive a confirmation email from the Earthquakes within 48 hours confirming your spot in the Tryout.
  11. What do I get?

    1. Each participant will play in two 30-minute scrimmages in front of the Earthquakes coaches.
    2. Each participant will receive a voucher to the Earthquakes second home game of the regular season at Buck Shaw Stadium.
    3. Each participant will receive an Earthquakes adidas training top.
  12. What should I bring to the Tryout?

    1. Proof of ID
    2. Water
    3. Food (if necessary)
  13. Are there refunds if I can’t make it?

    1. No. The Earthquakes will not refund your payment because it is a first-come, first-served event. Do not sign up unless you are planning to attend.
  14. What should I wear?

    1. Please wear training gear including cleats and shin guards. You will be provided a Tryout T-shirt (which you get to keep) and a pinnie that you will have to return.
  15. Will food and water be provided?

    1. No. Food and water will not be provided. There are water fountains at the soccer complex.
  16. I don’t speak English. Do you have any Spanish-speaking employees who can help me fill out the form?

    1. Yes, please transfer them to Miguel and he can fill out their application for them or walk them through it online.
  17. Do I need to sign a waiver to participate?

    1. Yes. During the online registration process you will be prompted to agree to the terms and conditions of the Waiver, Release of Liability and Consent Form.
  18. Can I register on the day of the tryout?

    1. Yes. Online registration will close at 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 14 but there will be a limited number of slots available for registration on the morning of Jan. 19. These slots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
