Quakes in London

San Jose in England to face Tottenham Hotspur

The San Jose Earthquakes have arrived in London. It took 10 hours
in the air, but the trip was filled with plenty of card games, dominoes,
movies, laughter and, of course, sleep. The Quakes are here and ready to
continue their preparation for the 2010 season, which is now just a few
weeks away. The Earthquakes will be in the London area until Sunday,
14 and will train as well as play in several games over the course of
the next week.

San Jose will train at Spurs Lodge in Chigwell, London, the training
for their club partner, Barclays Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur.
training began promptly at 3 p.m. GMT, just hours after their arrival at
Heathrow International Airport today.

So, how was the trip from San Jose to London? Here's a quick recap:

12:00 p.m. PT: Traveling players and staff boarded the bus and
their way to San Francisco International Airport.

1:15 p.m. PT: Players checked in and tested out the new high-def
cam. Stay tuned for more on this. We will give fans a daily look inside
the trip. Check out the
Earthquakes new YouTube page at
http://www.youtube.com/sanjoseearthquakes to watch some of the videos
from Thursday's day
of travel.

2:45 p.m. PT: Andre Luiz, Quincy Amarikwa, Chris Wondolowski and
Ramiro Corrales played an intense game of cards at the gate.

3:45 p.m. PT: Team boarded their British Airways flight.

4:25 p.m. PT: Departed SFO for London Heathrow.

6:00 p.m. PT: Defender Jason Hernandez makes the tough decision
watch Twilight: New Moon because, hey, he had seen the first one,
so why not, right? He
then asked Mike Graczyk whether he would be judged for doing so. He most
certainly was. To be fair to Jason, he did have a productive trip,
knocking out four movies
on the trip, including The Dark Knight and The Blindside, as well as
catching an episode
of Better of Ted. He certainly wins the award for most airline-provided
media consumed.

Approx 8:15 p.m. PT: Dinner is served; a solid choice between
beef or
pasta. Buttering the bread was difficult at times with the small knives,
check out the video on YouTube to see Ryan Johnson struggle.

9:00 p.m. PT: Bobby Convey, Brandon McDonald and the
Johnson got the dominoes out and went after it.

9:30 p.m. PT: Most on board caught some sleep. Andrew Weber
attempted to
do some silent interviews with Quincy and Jason, who were asleep.
However, he
wasn't given the tutorial on the hd flip cam, so unfortunately those
interviews were never recorded.

10:45 a.m. GMT: Quakes arrive in London and board Tottenham's
team bus to
the hotel in Chigwell.

The Quakes were joined in London by defender Ike Opara, who came from
midterms at Wake Forest. Midfielder Simon Elliott will arrive from Los
Saturday after New Zealand fell 2-0 to Mexico at The Rose Bowl on
night).Stay tuned for more updates on the time in London here at
