NE’s Twellman placed on season-ending DL

Revs shelve all-time leading scorer after rehab setback

The New England Revolution will go without striker Taylor Twellman for the remainder of the season. Though this is not different from what has taken place so far this year. He has not appeared for the Revs so far.

Twellman was shelved after a setback in his recovery from a longterm injury that has severely limited his action in the past year and a half. He has played just two minutes since colliding with former LA Galaxy goalkeeper Steve Cronin in a match on August 30, 2008.

“My goal from the start of this season was to be back on the field this year,” Twellman said in a statement. “I’m very disappointed that this setback has derailed that goal.”

Luiz will undergo surgery on his left knee to repair his PCL and MCL. The 34-year-old central midfielder had played in nine games this season, posting one assist.

In preparation for this news, the Quakes made move earlier in the week, acquiring second-year midfielder Sam Cronin from Toronto FC.
