Training Report: Convey accepts PSWA award
Bobby Convey looked sharp in his second day of camp since departing over the weekend to accept an award at the 107th Annual Philadelphia Sports Writers Association's Native Son Banquet.
The Quakes midfielder was one of several sports dignitaries - Major League Baseball Cy Young winner Roy Halladay among them - honored on Monday. Convey dodged the snowstorms bogging down flights on the East Coast and arrived back in camp Wednesday.
"It was a really exciting event," Convey said. "I don't know much about baseball, but Roy Halladay was a nice guy and so was Elton Brand. It was cool being in the company of those guys."

Convey was the 2010 MLS Comeback Player of the Year. He recorded 10 assists and scored a brace to help the Quakes clinch a thrilling 3-2 aggregate win over the New York Red Bulls in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Jon Busch saw his first action of the preseason during short-field scrimmages in the latter half of practice.
Andrew Weber, Brian Edwards and Philip Tuttle were each in camp and split time in net during scrimmages. With Busch and Generation adidas pick up David Bingham securing two of the Quakes three goalkeeper spots, Weber, Edwards and Tuttle are in a battle for the final slot.
LENHART LOOKING SHARP
The Quakes 2011 home opener might be two months away, but offseason acquisition Steven Lenhart appears ready to go if they game were kicking off this weekend.
Lenhart has been the talk of camp to date after arriving in San Jose via trade from Columbus. The athletic forward provided a booming goal in the final scrimmage of
the day. Lenhart took a touch from 15 yards out and then rocketed a right-footed bomb to the top shelf.
Fans can look for Lenhart tonight on CSN Bay Area's Chronicle Live at 5 p.m. (replay at 11 p.m.) and on KRON 4 Evening News at about 6:40 p.m.
