SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club will host San Luis FC of the Mexican Primera Division in an international friendly on Thursday, Sept. 6 at Buck Shaw Stadium at 7:30 p.m. PT. The Quakes also announced that their match against the LA Galaxy on Oct. 21 at Buck Shaw Stadium is now sold out.

Season ticket holders should use their Bonus Game “B” ticket for the San Luis match. Season ticket holders will also be able to purchase additional individual and group tickets starting Tuesday, Aug. 7 until the public on-sale date by calling their fan relations specialist. Individual tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday, Aug. 9 at 10 a.m. PT and can be purchased by visiting www.sjearthquakes.com or by calling tickets.com at (800) 225-2277. Prices for individual tickets range from $20 to $53.

“Our club is excited to welcome San Luis FC to Buck Shaw Stadium for an international friendly,” said Earthquakes Club President Dave Kaval. “We have not played a team from Mexico since 2003 and San Luis is building something exciting. We are looking forward to the match.”

The Earthquakes have played 10 games against Mexican competition, eight exhibition games and two CONCACAF Champions Cup matches. The Quakes have played UNAM Pumas (twice), Atlas, Chivas de Guadalajara (twice), Monarcas Morelia, Toluca and Club America in exhibitions. In 2002, the Quakes fell 3-1 on aggregate in a two-leg quarterfinal series in the Champions Cup to Pachuca CF.

Founded in 1957, San Luis has been in the Primera Division for the majority of its history and finished runner up in 2006, falling to Pachuca CF in the final. Los Reales return a strong squad from last season’s Torneo Clausura, including Peruvian striker Wilmer Aguirre who scored four goals last season. Another player worth noting is American defender Michael Orozco Fiscal. Orozco Fiscal has four caps for the U.S. Men’s National Team, his most recent coming on Oct. 8, 2011 against Honduras. The squad also boasts Mexican National Team goalkeeper Oscar Perez, Mexico’s starter at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Forward Santiago Trellez (Colombia) and midfielder Sebastian Fernandez (Uruguay) have gotten off to strong starts in this year’s Liga MX and Copa MX. Los Reales tied 3-3 over the weekend against Monarcas Morelia with two goals from Fernandez and one from Trellez. For more information about San Luis FC, visit www.clubsanluis.com.mx.

The Earthquakes have six remaining MLS regular season home games in 2012. The lineup starts with Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday, Aug. 11 and ends with the LA Galaxy on Sunday, Oct. 21. The final installment of the California Clasico is already sold out, but tickets are still on sale for the club’s five other home dates on the schedule.
