The Revolution capitalized in front of their home crowd, tallying first in the 13th minute thanks to a strike from Saer Sene. The French forward blasted a shot from the top of the box that took a deflection on its way into the net, leaving Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Busch helpless to make the save. New England tacked on a second goal late in the second half as Lee Nguyen linked up with Dimitry Imbongo. Kelyn Rowe started the play with a through ball to Nguyen. The winger timed his run perfectly and one-timed a cross that found Imbongo on the doorstep for a tap-in finish.
