Career Summary

Zura has 11 caps with the Ecuador national team and scored one goal, a strike against Sweden in January of 2007. He also captained his country’s squad to its first major trophy, a win against Brazil in the 2007 U-23 Pan-American Championships.

Most recently, the 27-year-old made 30 appearances and scored 10 goals for El Nacional since joining the club in 2009. The powerful striker had four goals and one assist for La Máquina Roja, a member of the Ecuadorian First Division, in 2011. Prior to joining El Nacional, Zura appeared in nine games while on loan for the Newcastle Jets of the Australian A-League as a “Marquee Player”, similar to the MLS version of a Designated Player. The loan was one of three stints between 2004 and 2008 that he experienced during a longstanding career with Imbabura SC, a club where Zura has scored 23 goals in 54 appearances dating back to 2002.
