The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that forward Ryan Johnson has been named to the roster for the Jamaican national team for their upcoming match against South Africa.  The Reggae Boyz will take on the host nation of the 2010 World Cup in Frankfurt, Germany on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. PT.

Johnson scored his first goal for his country back on Feb. 10 against Argentina when he scored early to give Jamaica the lead. The 2009 season was a breakout year for Johnson, his second with San Jose. He led the team in goals with 11 in 30 appearances. Johnson started a career high 27 games and took home the team's most valuable player award.

So far this season, the Jamaican international has started all four games for the Quakes at forward and had a very successful preseason. Johnson scored twice in during San Jose's three game trip to London, when they trained at club partners Tottenham Hotspur training ground, Spurs Lodge. He had the game-winners against English Premier League side West Ham United and four days later against MLS side Colorado Rapids.
