Quakes Auction Jerseys to Benefit Joe Vide

The San Jose Earthquakes will host fundraising efforts to help support former Earthquakes midfielder Joe Vide’s battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The Quakes will auction off game-worn autographed jerseys of the Starting XI from their 4-0 win over the New York Red Bulls last Saturday at Buck Shaw Stadium. Five jerseys will be auctioned via eBay (click here to see the available jerseys), and the remaining six jerseys will be auctioned off at the Earthquakes next home game on Saturday, May 29 against Toronto FC at 7 p.m. PT, which will be broadcast live on Comcast SportsNet California, 1220 KDOW (English radio) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish radio).

Vide, who appeared in five games with the club in 2008, was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The Earthquakes have provided many avenues for fans to be able to help ease Vide’s financial burden due to the cost of treatment. The Quakes will conduct the auctions as well as collect donations at the Guest Services booth in the North End of Buck Shaw Stadium, with all proceeds going to Vide’s foundation. Checks can be made out to the Earthquakes Community Fund with Joe Vide.
