The San Jose Earthquakes return to Buck Shaw Stadium on Saturday to host Toronto FC after picking up four points on the road, a scoreless draw against the New England Rebolution and Saturday's 1-0 result over Seattle Sounders FC. The Quakes are riding a four-game unbeaten streak in which San Jose has outscored opponents 6-0.
Toronto FC is coming off a 1-0 win against the New England Revolution last weekend. Preki's squad is third in the Eastern Conference with 13 points (4-4-1 overall record). Leading the way in 2010 has been a resurgent Dwayne DeRosario (6g, 3a). The former Earthquakes star is the second-leading scorer in the MLS.
The Earthquakes are among the hottest teams in MLS with five wins in their last seven outings. Chris Wondolowski continued to build upon his successful 2010 campaign with a game-winning goal against Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday. Perhaps even more impressive, however, has been the Quakes defense, which posted its fourth clean sheet in-a-row and the fifth this season with Saturday's 1-0 win at Seattle.

For San Jose, one was enough. Chris Wondolowski’s 11th-minute goal stood up as the Earthquakes’ imposing back line stretched the side’s shutout streak to four games. San Jose got on the board first through Chris Wondolowski. A Joey Gjertsen cross from the right side was nodded on twice by Quakes attackers, and the in-form striker was first to react at the far post, tucking the ball into the net with a side volley from close range. It was Wondolowski’s fifth goal of the season as the journeyman continues to establish himself in San Jose. The early goal gave the Quakes license to take a more defensive stance. Seattle tried to exploit that by sending balls in behind San Jose’s back line, forcing Earthquakes goalkeeper Joe Cannon off his line to smother Seattle chances on two occasions. San Jose withstood a lot of pressure, and although being outshot 18-3, they were able to defend well enough to preserve their fourth consecutive shutout, and earn a very big three points away from home.

The Quakes earned a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC thanks to a stoppage time equalizer from Trinidad & Tobago international forward Cornell Glen. San Jose trailed in the second half at BMO Field in part to a 47th minute strike from Nana Attakora just after halftime. It appeared the goal would stand up, however, Glen was able to finish coolly in the 93rd minute during a goal mouth scramble to send the visitors home with a share of the points.

Quakes Off to Best Start in Franchise History
With a 1-0 win over Seattle on the road this past Saturday, the Earthquakes have tied their best start in franchise history. The Quakes sit 5-2-1 after their first eight games, which equals their starts in 2001 and 2002. With a win on Saturday against Toronto, San Jose will set a new record for their best start.
Quakes Tie Longest Shutout Streak for Consecutive Games
With their 1-0 win in Seattle on Saturday, the Quakes tied their longest shutout streak in consecutive games with four. They have not conceded a goal in 363 minutes, which is the third longest shutout streak in club history. The longest streak in franchise history is 459 minutes, which was done from Aug. 11 through Sept. 8 of 2004. The team also did not allow a goal in 399 minutes from July 19 until August 16 of 2003.
Cannon Posts Fifth Shutout of the Season
Earthquakes goalkeeper Joe Cannon posted his fifth shutout of the season on Saturday in San Jose’s 1-0 win over the Seattle Sounders. Cannon now has 73 career shutouts and is alone in second in MLS for shutouts this season. If Cannon can reach the 48th minute of Saturday’s match against Toronto FC without conceding a goal, he will break his own franchise record of 410 consecutive scoreless minutes. That streak ran from Sept. 22, 1999 through March 25, 2000. His streak currently sits at 363 minutes.
Quakes Defense Among the Best in MLS
The Quakes defense kept Seattle scoreless in their 1-0 win on Saturday in the Emerald City. San Jose now has five shutouts this season, and has only conceded four goals in their past seven games, five of which have been wins. The Quakes are now third in MLS in goals allowed this season, having allowed only seven on the season. The Quakes have not allowed a goal at home since the 54th minute of their home opener versus Real Salt Lake on April 17, and since the 87th minute at Chivas USA on April 24 on the road.
Wondo Stays Hot
Quakes forward Chris Wondolowski scored his fifth goal in six games on Saturday against the Seattle Sounders in the 11th minute of play, marking his third game-winner of 2010. The Danville native had scored in four consecutive matches from April 17 through May 8 before being held off the score sheet on May 15 in New England. Wondolowski found the back of the net again in Seattle, as he was left unmarked on the back post. Joey Gjertsen whipped a ball into the box that was flicked on by both Brandon McDonald and Bobby Burling before finding San Jose’s leading scorer, who hammered home his fifth of they year. Wondolowski Among MLS Leaders
Quakes forward Chris Wondolowski is now tied for third with former Earthquakes forward Kei Kamara (now in Kansas City) in all of MLS in scoring with his five goals. Those five goals also tie his career high from last season when he split time with Houston and San Jose.
McDonald and Burling Notch Assists
Earthquakes midfielder Brandon McDonald and defender Bobby Burling both were credited with assists on forward Chris Wondolowski’s 11th minute goal. They both flicked on a Joey Gjertsen cross that eventually reached Wondolowski, who was unmarked at the back post, and left Sounders FC goalkeeper Kasey Keller with no chance. The assist was the first of Burling’s career and McDonald’s third (second of 2010).
Quakes Win First Game at Qwest
San Jose notched its first ever win in Seattle this past Saturday thanks to an 11th minute goal by Chris Wondolowski. The Sounders had won the previous two matches at Qwest Field in 2009, by a combined score of 4-1.
Road Success
San Jose have doubled their win total on the road from a year ago following their 1-0 win on Saturday against the Seattle Sounders FC, and have matched their road win total of the 2008 season with two. So far in 2010, the Quakes are 2-1-1 on the road, compared to a 0-4-0 start on the road last season after the same amount of games.
Alvarez Set to Make 150th Appearance
Quakes midfielder/forward Arturo Alvarez will make his 150th career appearance in MLS if he plays on Saturday, May 29 against Toronto FC. He has started 92 games, has scored 22 goals and notched 17 assists in his eight-year career.

Quakes Host Club Partner Tottenham Hotspur July 17
The San Jose Earthquakes will play club partner Tottenham Hotspur from the English Premier League (EPL) on Saturday, July 17 at Buck Shaw Stadium. The kick-off time will be announced at a later date. Tottenham Hotspur, also known as Spurs, signed a club partnership agreement in 2008 with the objective of creating a long-term bond between the two clubs. The partnership to date has seen Earthquakes technical staff visiting Spurs Lodge on numerous occasions, with the team using the Tottenham Hotspur training facility as a base for this season’s pre-season preparations.

The two sides have teamed up to kick out hunger in the local community. Quakes Individual Tickets
The San Jose Earthquakes announced that individual tickets for all 2010 Earthquakes home games are now on sale. The Quakes significantly reduced prices for the 2010 season with prices ranging from $20-50.
