Quakes Top Sol in Scrimmage, Ready for RSL

The Quakes continued to prepare for a return to MLS action with a scrimmage against the Sonoma County Sol on Friday at the Nutrilite Training Facility. Ryan Johnson and Arturo Alvarez scored to lift the Quakes past the National Premier Soccer League side.


San Jose tried a new lineup in the first half with Jason Hernandez slotted at right back, Bobby Burling and Ike Opara at center back and Ramiro Corrales at right back. Steven Beitashour moved up to right midfield with Brandon McDonald and a trialist in the middle, Bobby Convey on the opposite flank. Ryan Johnson paired with Chris Wondolowski up top.


Arturo Alvarez, Brad Ring, Javier Robles and Chris Leitch also saw action in the second half.


The Sonoma County Sol qualified for the 2010 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup after defeating the Los Gatos Storm 3-0 on May 22.


San Jose returns to the MLS pitch on Friday, June 25 at Real Salt Lake's Rio Tinto Stadium. The next home match for San Jose will be July 3 against D.C. United at 7 p.m. (BUY TICKETS)
