San Jose tallied four times in the second half to defeat the US Men’s National Team U-20 squad 5-0 at the Nutrilite Training Facility on Tuesday.
The Quakes played with the same starting lineup that held Real Salt Lake to a scoreless draw at Rio Tinto Stadium last Friday. From the first whistle, San Jose looked ready to control the match.

Ryan Johnson started the scoring in the 45th minute. Chris Wondolowski took a pass from Sam Cronin and found Johnson in the area for the finish. Johnson’s goal capped a dominant first half for San Jose.
San Jose’s starters played through the 75th minute before head coach Frank Yallop issued a line change.
Brad Ring made an immediate impact, drawing a foul in the area in the 76th minute to set up a Cornell Glen penalty.
The Quakes weren’t done.
Arturo Alvarez beat his man down the sideline, dribbled into the box and did his left-footed impression of the now-famous Landon Donovan blast over the keeper’s head in the 87th minute.
Omar Jasseh and Javier Robles capped the scoring with stoppage-time strikes. Jasseh finished far post with a thunderous shot that touched iron before reaching the net. Robles took two touches before booting in San Jose’s fifth of the day from inside the box.
The Quakes hosts D.C. United in MLS action on Saturday at 7 p.m. The first 5,000 fans receive a free drawstring Quakes backpack presented by Xfinity.
