The San Jose Earthquakes didn't help their playoff standing, but they maintain a six-point cushion over the Kansas City Wizards. Both teams have five games remaining, meaning the Quakes will really need to stumble to let Kansas City into the picture.
The Colorado Rapids were also in action Wednesday night, defeating the Philadelphia Union 4-1. The Rapids now lead Seattle and San Jose by two points for the No. 6 seed.
