A misunderstanding between the Panamanian and Salvadoran soccer federations will allow Arturo Alvarez to play for the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday against D.C. United at RFK Stadium.

Alvarez was slated to join El Salvador for friendlies against Panama on Friday, October 8 and Costa Rica on Tuesday, October 12. Instead, Alvarez  joined the Quakes  on the East Coast for the team's match against D.C. United on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

With Ryan Johnson and Cornell Glen unavailable to San Jose due to international friendlies, Alvarez's availability is a positive note for San Jose head coach Frank Yallop. The Quakes can secure a spot in the MLS Cup Playoffs on Saturday with a win over United and a Kansas City loss against Seattle.
