The San Jose Earthquakes will take on the Colorado Rapids in the Eastern Conference Championship on Saturday, Nov. 13 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Col. The match will kickoff at 6:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel and 1220 KDOW.  

The Earthquakes advanced to the Conference Championship in dramatic fashion, disposing of the top seeded New York Red Bulls 3-2 on aggregate, after a 3-1 win on Thursday night at Red Bull Arena. Bobby Convey scored in the sixth minute, again in the 76th minute and assisted on Chris Wondolowski’s 81st minute header.

The Rapids advanced to play the Earthquakes after defeating the Columbus Crew on penalty kicks. The Rapids and Crew tied 2-2 on aggregate, but the Rapids won 5-4 in the shootout.

The Earthquakes and Rapids met twice in the regular season, with each team winning 1-0 at home. On May 1 at Buck Shaw Stadium, Wondolowski’s Goal of the Week in the 33rd minute was the difference as San Jose produced their second shutout of the season and picked up the win. In Commerce City, an own goal by goalkeeper Jon Busch allowed the Rapids to come away with the 1-0 win on Aug. 7.

The winner of the Eastern Conference Championship will face the winner of the Western Conference Championship on Nov. 21 in MLS Cup at BMO Field in Toronto, Ont. MLS Cup will be broadcast live on ESPN and Telefutura at 5:30 p.m. PT.

The San Jose Earthquakes previously made the playoffs in 1996 and 2001-2005, and have won two MLS Cup Championships, in 2001 and 2003.
