Mexican soccer icon Campos visits Bay Area

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Mexican soccer icon Jorge Campos made his rounds today throughout the Bay Area to promote the international friendly between Mexico and Paraguay at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum on Saturday, March 26 at 2 p.m. PT.

Tickets for the general public will go on sale Friday, Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. PT and can be purchased by visiting www.Tickets.com, by calling 800-225-2277 or visiting the usual tienda locations. A special two-pack that includes a ticket to the Mexico-Paraguay game and a voucher for a ticket to a 2011 Earthquakes game can be purchased for as low as $30 by calling 408-556-7700.

“I am very excited to be here today to help promote awareness for the match on March 26 at the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum,” said Campos. “I want to encourage all fans to come out to enjoy a wonderful day of international soccer in the Bay Area.”

Campos made appearances on several radio and television outlets in the Bay Area, including Univision, Telemundo and KZSF. He also visited with reporters from the San Jose Mercury News as well as Area Chica and Sensacion Deportiva.


The annual U.S. tour will mark the beginning of the Mexican National Team’s path to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. El Tri are under the direction of new head coach Jose Manuel “Chepo” de la Torre.
