Wondo’s Golden Boot Tour Heads to the Almaden Brit in San Jose on Sunday, March 13
MLS leading scorer Chris Wondolowski will make an appearance at The Almaden Brit in San Jose to speak to fans, respond to questions and hold a photo and autograph session. This event featuring the Earthquakes’ star striker will run from 3–4 p.m. PT at the British pub in South San Jose. The Golden Boot Tour is making its second stop after a highly successful opening act last month at Norm’s Bar and Grill in Danville, Calif.

Opening Day Preparation Continues at the Nutrilite Training Facility
Following the pair of matching 1-0 exhibition victories over the weekend against the reigning MLS champions Colorado Rapids and Cal Poly, and a day-off on Sunday, the Earthquakes return to training this week at the Nutrilite Training Facility in order to continue putting the final touches on their preparation for opening day. The Quakes are set to open their 2011 season by hosting Real Salt Lake on March 19th at 7 pm at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara. They will hold practice every day at 10:15 am, and wrap up the week on Saturday with a closed-door scrimmage against the expansion Portland Timbers.

Demolition Process of FMC Factory Begins
Demolition of the Food Machinery Corporation building on the site of the proposed San Jose Earthquakes stadium began on Thursday, March 3 at noon. The building currently stands adjacent to the San Jose International Airport at 1125 Coleman Avenue. The day was highlighted with a ceremony including players, staff, and key local dignitaries.

Earthquakes Sign Ampaipitakwong and Weber
The San Jose Earthquakes signed second-round SuperDraft pick Anthony Ampaipitakwong and goalkeeper Andrew Weber. Ampaipitakwong co-captained an NCAA Championship run with Akron in 2010. The attacking midfielder with Thai roots was on the Hermann Trophy Watch List as a senior last year. Weber was a member of the Earthquakes in 2009 and 2010, but was released midway through last season. The former University of New Mexico standout is 1-0-1 in his Quakes career.

Quakes down Colorado Rapids 1-0 in MLS Central Coast Challenge
The San Jose Earthquakes defeated the defending MLS Cup Champion Colorado Rapids 1-0 on a Chris Wondolowski penalty in the MLS Central Coast Challenge at Cal Poly’s Alex G. Spanos Stadium. The Earthquakes improved their record to 4-1-0 all time at Spanos Stadium, dating back to 2008.

Young Earthquakes Squad Defeat Cal Poly 1-0 in Scrimmage
The San Jose Earthquakes improved to 6-2-1 during the preseason with a 1-0 win against Cal Poly at Alex G. Spanos Stadium on Saturday. Playing with a mostly young group and a pair of trialists, the Earthquakes broke through in the second half as Bobby Convey fed trialist Matt Luzunaris for a close-range finish. Convey saw his first scrimmage time since San Jose's one-week camp in Ventura from Feb. 6 through Feb. 11.

Lenhart Undergoes Successful Arthroscopic Surgery
Steven Lenhart, acquired in a draft-day trade from Columbus, underwent arthroscopic surgery Thursday to repair a slight tear in the meniscus of his right knee. A team spokesman said the 24-year-old will miss three to four weeks, knocking him out of the Quakes’ first match of 2011, at home against Real Salt Lake.

U16s Sweep, U18s Split Road Matches In Southern California
Both Earthquakes Academy teams travelled to Riverside, Calif. for non-conference USSF Development Academy matches over the weekend. On Saturday, both sides defeated Arsenal FC, the U-18s winning 4-0 and the U-16s 1-0. On Sunday, the U-18s fell to Real Salt Lake (AZ) 2-0 while the U-16s won 2-1.

Earthquakes Preseason Schedule and Results
The Quakes are currently 6-2-1 in their first nine preseason games. They have an upcoming closed-door scrimmage against the Portland Timbers.
