Wondo's Golden Boot Tour heads to San Jose on Sunday

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski will be at The Almaden Brit in San Jose from 3-4 p.m. PT on Sunday, March 13 for the second stop on his Golden Boot Tour.


The tour gives fans an opportunity to meet the Bay Area native and 2010 MLS Budweiser Golden Boot winner. Fans are encouraged to bring friends and family to the event. Wondo will start the afternoon with a speech followed by a question-and-answer session, autograph signings and photographs. The Earthquakes will also raffle off an autographed Wondolowski jersey.


The first stop on the tour was a huge success with over 50 fans packed into Norm’s Bar and Grill in Danville, Ca., Wondolowski’s hometown.

Wondolowski scored 18 goals in 2010, tops in MLS. He scored a franchise record nine game-winning goals and accounted for an astonishing 52.9 percent of the team’s scoring output for the season, a mark that ranks No. 2 all time in league history.


The De La Salle graduate was honored as an MLS Best XI selection as a forward, was named the team’s most valuable player and finished third in the MLS MVP race.


The San Jose Earthquakes will open the 2011 season at home on Saturday, March 19 against Real Salt Lake at Buck Shaw Stadium at 7:30 p.m. San Jose looks to improve on their 2010 campaign that saw the Quakes reach the MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2005.
