Individual tickets on sale for July 2 SJ-NYRB match

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that Individual game tickets for the club’s match against the New York Red Bulls at Stanford Stadium on Saturday, July 2 are now on sale at SJEarthquakes.com or by calling 800-225-2277. The match will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

Tickets range in price from $15 to $50. Additionally, fans can purchase group tickets (10 or more) by calling 408-556-7700 or a special FIREWORKS 4 PACK, four tickets and two Chris Wondolowski t-shirts for $50, by visiting SJEarthquakes.com. The Earthquakes are also offering fans the chance to take advantage of a Blues Cruise ticket package, a match ticket and transportation to and from the stadium from two locations in San Francisco for $25. That package is available on sjearthquakes.com or by calling 408-556-7700.

The New York Red Bulls include marquee names Rafael Márquez, captain of the Mexican National Team, Thierry Henry, the all-time leader in goals for the French National Team and Arsenal, and Dwayne De Rosario, a Canadian international who won MLS Cups with San Jose in 2001 and 2003.

Following the match, the Earthquakes will treat fans to the best fireworks show on the Peninsula for the Fourth of July weekend. Fans can stay in their seats or move onto the field for the best view to watch the fireworks.

The Epicenter Fan Zone will be moved from Buck Shaw Stadium to Stanford for the match. Fans will be able to enjoy foosball, corn hole, face painting and poster making prior to kickoff. Gourmet food trucks will also be on site.

The Earthquakes have not played at Stanford Stadium since July 4, 1999, when they took on D.C. United in front of 73,123 fans as part of a doubleheader with the U.S. Women’s National Team. San Jose won the game in a shootout, following a 1-1 tie. The team also played its first three matches of the 1998 season at Stanford Stadium, while Spartan Stadium was undergoing renovations. The Quakes lost to the Colorado Rapids and the Dallas Burn in shootouts before defeating the Chicago Fire 1-0.

Stanford Stadium played host to the largest crowd for a soccer match in Bay Area history on July 4, 1994 when the United States National Team faced Brazil in the second round of the 1994 World Cup. The U.S. fell 1-0 to Brazil in front of 84,177 fans.

Originally built in 1921, Stanford Stadium played host to many historic events including the Super Bowl XIX, men's and women's World Cup Soccer matches, Olympic soccer competition, Presidential nomination, Track & Field, and numerous college football games. The $100 million project on the new stadium began on November 26, 2005, moments after Stanford's final game. The stadium currently has a capacity of 50,000.
