The San Jose Earthquakes will look to rebound from back-to-back losses this weekend against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, April 30 at PPL Park. The match will air live on MLS Direct Kick and on the radio in Spanish on KZSF 1370 at 1 p.m. PT.

The San Jose Earthquakes conceded a late goal and lost 2-1 to Chivas USA at Buck Shaw Stadium. Chris Wondolowski gave the Quakes an early 1-0 lead with his third goal of the season in the 16th minute. However, Chivas USA rallied to tie the game through Alejandro Moreno just before halftime and Mariano Trujillo scored the game-winner in the 85th minute.

The San Jose Earthquakes defeated the Philadelphia Union 1-0 at Buck Shaw Stadium in a midweek game that was crucial to their playoff push. The Quakes posted their fourth straight shutout at home and completed the season sweep of the Union. Chris Wondolowski netted his ninth goal of the season and sixth game-winner to lead San Jose to the win. Jon Busch earned the shutout, the team’s tenth of the 2010 season, by making five saves.

Corrales Breaks Minutes Played Record for San Jose, Makes 250th Career Start
Earthquakes defender Ramiro Corrales set yet another club record this past weekend in the game against Chivas USA. After breaking the all-time appearances record last season and the games started record earlier in the 2011 campaign, the San Jose captain surpassed former Quakes goalkeeper Joe Cannon for most minutes played all-time in a San Jose jersey. Corrales broke Cannon’s club record of 15,561 in the second half and has now totaled 15,596 minutes played with the Earthquakes. The match was also the 250th of his MLS career and he surpassed 20,000 minutes played in his MLS career.

Wondolowski Moving Up Quakes’ All-Time Scoring Charts
San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski continues to inch up the franchise’s all-time scoring charts. Wondo’s goal against Chivas USA on Saturday was his 24th with the Quakes, fifth-most in Quakes history. Next up on the list is current Houston Dynamo striker Brian Ching, who tallied 25 goals during his time at the Earthquakes from 2003-05. The career leader for the club is Ronald Cerritos, who notched 61 from 1997-2001, when the team was known as the Clash, and one year in 2005. 

Wondo Makes 50th Career Appearance with the Club
Quakes forward Chris Wondolowski also appeared in his 50th career game with the Earthquakes on Saturday against Chivas USA. After appearing in two games as a substitute during his first stint with the club in 2005, he played in 14 games in his first season back in 2009, 28 in 2010 and six so far in 2011. Of Wondo’s 50 appearances with San Jose, 40 have been starts. The striker has 24 goals and three assists during his Quakes career.

Lenhart Makes Earthquakes Debut
San Jose forward Steven Lenhart made his much-awaited Earthquakes debut last weekend when he came on as a substitute against Chivas USA in the 80th minute. Lenhart missed the start of the season after having arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. Lenhart managed two shots in his ten minutes of action and will look to earn more playing time as he recovers his form in weeks to come.

History of the Quakes – Union Rivalry
The Earthquakes have won the only two match-ups between the two sides during Philadelphia’s expansion season in 2010 ... In the first-ever meeting between the two teams, San Jose came out victorious at PPL Park on July 10 of last year with a 2-1 victory. After falling behind 1-0 in the 14th minute, the Quakes battled back to equalize with a Cornell Glen goal just before the halftime whistle. San Jose sealed the win in the 90th minute as Arturo Alvarez beat his defender 1v1 on the break before slicing a left-footed shot into the net for a dramatic win ... In the second match-up of the season on Sept. 15 at Buck Shaw Stadium, Chris Wondolowski scored the lone goal of the game in the second half and Jon Busch recorded five saves to earn the shutout.

Earthquakes Reserves Defeat Chivas USA 3-1 at Nutrilite Training Facility
The San Jose Earthquakes allowed an early goal to the Chivas USA in Reserve League play on Saturday, but responded with three goals in the second half to earn a 3-1 win at the Nutrilite Training Facility. Chivas USA opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a goal from Mariano Trujillo. The Quakes came out strong in the second half and quickly evened the score with a goal from Ryan Johnson. The goal came in the 50th minute. Anthony Ampaipitakwong then gave the Quakes the lead when he tapped in a loose ball in front of the goal for a 2-1 Quakes lead after a Rafael Baca shot. Yuri Morales finished the scoring with five minutes remaining after a combination between Johnson and Jesus Padilla.

San Jose Partners Up with Fresh Coast Beach Soccer Tournament
The San Jose Earthquakes announced last week that they have signed a tournament partnership with the Fresh Coast Beach Soccer Championships. This year, the 5-on-5 tournament will be held on June 18 and 19 in front of the famous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, California. There will be several youth, men’s and women’s divisions, with an open men’s cash prize division. The Quakes will be providing each team ticket vouchers to see the team take on either the New York Red Bulls or Philadelphia Union. Several Earthquakes players will also make an appearance to meet with fans, sign autographs and take photos.

Academy Teams Look To Return to Winning Ways against California Development Academy
After a two-week break from competitive fixtures, the Earthquakes U16 and U18 teams return to U.S. Development Academy action on Sunday, May 1 against the California Development Academy. The matches will be held at Hornet Soccer Stadium in Sacramento, on campus at CSU Sacramento. The U18’s will take the field first at 1 p.m. PT, with the U16’s following at 3:30 p.m. After playing only two games in April, the Academy squads are in for a busy six weeks with five games in May before finishing the season with three matches in June. The Academy season ends June 12 against Seattle Sounders FC.

July 2 Match vs. New York Red Bulls to be Played at Stanford Stadium
The San Jose Earthquakes have moved their Saturday, July 2 match against international stars Thierry Henry and Rafa Márquez and the New York Red Bulls to Stanford Stadium in Stanford, Calif. The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. PT and air live on ESPN2. Following the match, the Earthquakes will treat fans to the best fireworks show on the Peninsula for the Fourth of July weekend. Fans can stay in their seats or move onto the field for the best view to watch the fireworks. The Epicenter Fan Zone will be moved from Buck Shaw Stadium to Stanford for the match. Fans will be able to enjoy foosball, corn hole, face painting and poster making prior to kickoff. Gourmet food trucks will also be on site.

Earthquakes to Play Portland Timbers at JELD-WEN Field on May 3 in U.S. Open Cup Play-In Match
The San Jose Earthquakes announced two weeks ago that the club will play the Portland Timbers at JELD-WEN Field in Portland, Ore. on Tuesday, May 3 in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Play-in game. The match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. PT. The winner will face the Chicago Fire, who defeated the Colorado Rapids in their first U.S. Open Cup Play-in game last month. If the Quakes defeat Portland and Chicago, they will enter the main draw of the U.S. Open Cup along with seven other MLS clubs.
