Odwalla Player of the Month: Francis O'Keefe

Francis O'Keefe Odwalla Player of the Month

The San Jose Earthquakes announce today that Francis O'Keefe of Sunnyvale, Calif. was named the Odwalla Player of the Month for May.

At 15 years old, O'Keefe has experience on two sides of soccer, both as a player and as a certified AYSO Regional Referee. He has been a fan of the beautiful game since an early age and kicked off his playing career while playing AYSO in Millbrae at seven years old for the Black Knights. From there, O'Keefe moved to Sunnyvale and joined up with AYSO West San Jose and Cupertino Middle School.

In the spring of 2010, he was asked to join the AYSO Region 64 U-19 Select squad coached by Mark Arrouzet, allowing O'Keefe the opportunity to play alongside his older brother, Anthony. Francis quickly found his nitch as a starting attacker and finished the spring tied for the team lead in goals scored. During the fall season, he led the team in goals and assists. O'Keefe continued his play on Arrouzet's squad this year and is anxious for his sophomore season with the Fremont High School Firebirds next winter.

The talented striker is an avid Earthquakes fan. His parents are season ticket holders and his favorite player is Chris Wondolowski. O'Keefe is also a fan of FC Barcelona and Argentinean striker Lionel Messi.

In his spare time, O'Keefe enjoys singing, dancing, beat boxing and playing the ukulele.
