Social Footballer: The Greatest American Hero

The Social Footballer

After watching an inordinate amount of soccer over the last few weeks, I have come to this realization: The Quakes have not been playing a very attractive brand of soccer, but they are getting the results (reminiscent to the club that made a deep post-season run in 2010).

A huge part of that success is Steven Lenhart.

The Greatest American Hero, as he has become know on the QuakesCast, has exploded onto the scoring scene in the last two weeks and has filled the void left by Chris Wondolowski’s departure to the US squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup. I also thought that the role he played in Simon Dawkins' goal was just a glimpse of even better things to come.

All of that said, I know that I am not alone when saying that as long as the results keep coming, I don’t care how beautiful the game is, and if Lenhart keeps on his scoring trend, other teams are going to have a really tough time when Wondo and Lenny start clicking together up top.

[inline_node:8703]So, here is the homework that I want to assign all of you, Quakes fans. Before I started writing this post I was toying with the idea of PhotoShopping Lenhart’s head onto the body of The Greatest American Hero. What I want from all of you is your vision of Lenny as a superhero. Let's see what you can come up with!

Do you think Lenny is more of a Baywatch lifeguard ala David Hasselhoff? Maybe he’s more of an Incredible Hulk? Let’s see your creativity. Tweet all pictures to @SJEarthquakes and @kelg22.

Don’t forget to follow the game with me on twitter as the quakes take on Sporting KC tonight at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. Follow me at @kelg22 to chat.

Go Quakes!
