The San Jose Earthquakes will host the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, July 2 at Stanford Stadium, presented by Wells Fargo and Xfinity. Following the game, fans will enjoy a fireworks extravaganza at the stadium. In addition, 10,000 fans will receive a commemorative poster, presented by Wells Fargo and Xfinity. The match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. PT and will be aired live on ESPN2, 1220 KDOW (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).

The San Jose Earthquakes took the game to the LA Galaxy from the opening whistle but could only manage a 0-0 draw in front of a Buck Shaw Stadium record crowd of 10,872 on Saturday afternoon. The Quakes outshot the Galaxy 17-5 and applied pressure throughout, but the Galaxy defense held firm and the teams split the points. Jon Busch recorded his fourth shutout of the season.

The Earthquakes couldn’t overcome two early goals by the New York Red Bulls as San Jose fell 3-0 at Red Bull Arena. Luke Rodgers scored two first half goals and assisted on the Red Bulls final goal by Thierry Henry late in the second half to lead New York to the victory.

Misc. Notes

Holding Home Court Against New York
The Earthquakes are unbeaten in their last six regular season home matches against the New York Red Bulls with a 4-0-2 slate dating back to May 8, 2004. In 2004, the Quakes tied against what was then the Metrostars 5-5 on May 8 and then won 3-1 on June 12. One year later, San Jose came from behind to win 2-1 in the two teams' final meeting at Spartan Stadium. In 2008, the Quakes fell behind 1-0 on own goal in the 4th minute only to see Darren Huckerby equalize in the 13th minute for a 1-1 tie. Rounding out the final two meetings during the unbeaten streak, Ryan Johnson scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win on Oct. 3, 2009 and polished off the game winner again in a 4-0 rout on May 8, 2010.

Johnson a Red Bull Killer at Home
Ryan Johnson has scored the game winner in back-to-back seasons against the New York Red Bulls at home. The Jamaican international found net in the 24th minute of a 1-0 result against New York on Oct. 3, 2009 and was the first to tally in a 4-0 rout at Buck Shaw on May 8, 2010.   


Earthquakes Aim for Third Straight Home Shutout  

The Earthquakes recorded their second straight shutout at home with a scoreless draw against the LA Galaxy on June 25. San Jose hasn't been scored on at home in the last 184 minutes dating back to a 2-1 win against the New England Revolution on May 21. In its last four home games, San Jose is 3-0-1 while yielding just one goal.

Quakes Celebrity Bartending at The Old Pro
Earthquakes players Brad Ring, Steven Beitashour, Justin Morrow and Anthony Ampaipitakwong will be celebrity bartenders at The Old Pro in Palo Alto on Wednesday, June 29 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. PT. The quartet will be in town to promote the Quakes’ upcoming match against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, July 2 at Stanford Stadium.

1994 World Cup Reunion July 2 at Stanford Stadium
The San Jose Earthquakes will host a reunion for the players of the 1994 United States World Cup team around their game against the New York Red Bulls on July 2 at Stanford Stadium. The players will attend a pregame meet and greet with select fans before being honored on the field at halftime of the Quakes match at the same stadium where the U.S. faced Brazil in the second round of the FIFA World Cup on July 4, 1994. Players currently scheduled to attend the match are Tab Ramos, Marcelo Balboa, Paul Caligiuri, Fernando Clavijo, Mike Sorber, Juergen Sommer and Cobi Jones. More members of the squad may be confirmed in the coming weeks. Any fan that attended the 1994 U.S. game against Brazil will receive complimentary ticket to the Quakes-Red Bulls game on July 2. Each fan will have to present a ticket stub or proof of attendance at the match in order to redeem a complimentary ticket. Fans can redeem the tickets at the Earthquakes Front Office at 451 El Camino Real, Suite 220 in Santa Clara or at the box office on game day.

Class of ’94 Sweepstakes
Prove you were at Stanford Stadium on July 4, 1994 and you could win Quakes season tickets for the 2012 season. Aside from offering anyone who can prove they attended the ’94 World Cup game on July 4 at Stanford Stadium free admission to the Quakes’ game against the Red Bulls, fans can also enter to win two 2012 Earthquakes Season Ticket Packages. Busch the Shot Stopper
Fifteen games into the season, Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Busch is No. 4 in the league in saves with 50. Toronto FC’s Stefan Frei leads the pack with 70 saves in 18 matches, trailed by Matt Reis of the New England Revolution who has 57 saves in 14 games and Seattle Sounders FC’s Kasey Keller who has 54 saves in 19 matches.

Ticket Specials for July 2 match at Stanford Stadium
There are five ticket specials for the July 2 match against the New York Red Bulls at Stanford Stadium. The first option is the “Family 4 pack” which is a choice of four or five Upper Midfield East tickets for $20 each that were regularly $30. The second option is a “Group 2 Pack” for groups of 10 or more, with a GA ticket to Red Bulls match on July 2 and a sideline ticket to West Brom match on July 12 for only $22. Next is the “Blues Cruise,” a chartered bus trip from the Almaden Brit in San Jose to the game. Every rider will receive a discounted match ticket, a beer voucher and roundtrip transportation. The fourth special is provided courtesy of Facebook Deals. The deal includes a $30 Upper Midfield seat for the discounted price of $18 and can be purchased by visiting the Earthquakes’ Facebook page. Finally, fans can also bring proof of attendance from the 1994 US vs. Brazil World Cup match at Stanford Stadium and receive free admission. Quakes to Host West Bromwich Albion of English Premier League on July 12
The San Jose Earthquakes will host West Bromwich Albion from the English Premier League (EPL) on Tuesday, July 12 at Buck Shaw Stadium at 7:30 p.m. PT. Individual tickets are on sale at SJEarthquakes.com and by calling (800) 225-2277. Season ticket holders should use their Bonus Game “B” ticket for the match. Prices for individual seats range from $20 to $50. West Brom is laden with internationals from around the globe including: Peter Odemwingie (Nigeria), Scott Carson (England), Marek Čech (Slovakia), Somen Tchoyi (Cameroon), Pablo Ibáñez (Spain), James Morrison (Scotland), Steven Reid (Republic of Ireland), Abdoulaye Méïté (Ivory Coast), Gabriel Tamaş (Romania), , Gonzalo Jara (Chile) and Dean Kiely (Republic of Ireland). Fan Ballot Launched for AT&T MLS All-Star Game
Major League Soccer launched fan voting for the 2011 AT&T MLS All-Star game at MLSsoccer.com and via text messaging. A panel of media members nominated a total of 108 players – the top six per team – to the fan ballot. Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Busch, defender Jason Hernandez, midfielders Simon Dawkins, Bobby Convey and Khari Stephenson and forward Chris Wondolowski were named to the ballot. Fans can also vote by sending a player’s last name via text message to 22442. Busch Among MLS Career Leaders List for Shutouts
Jon Busch picked up his 57th career clean sheet on Saturday, June 25 in a 0-0 draw against the Los Angeles Galaxy at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Earthquakes’ starting goalkeeper is No. 7 among MLS all-time leaders. He has recorded 11 shutouts in two seasons with San Jose, 21 during three seasons (2007-09) with the Chicago Fire and 25 in five seasons (2002-06) with the Columbus Crew. Next on the list is New England Revolution keeper Matt Reis with 62.

Wells Fargo Soccer Mom of the Match
Wells Fargo will feature a Soccer Mom of the Match for each Earthquakes home game in 2011. The promotion kicked off on Saturday, June 25 with Tina Castaneda of San Jose taking home the award. One nominated mom will be selected for on-field and video-board recognition prior to kickoff each week. The winner will also receive four match tickets to an Earthquakes home game, a parking pass, and a jersey. They will also have the special privilege to watch pre-game warm ups from the field. Earthquakes celebrate 20th Anniversary of Lucile Packard
Earthquakes players Matt Luzunaris and Anthony Ampaipitakwong attended the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital 20th Anniversary Celebration in Palo Alto, Calif. on Sunday. History of the Quakes-Red Bulls Rivalry
The Earthquakes had a 10-game unbeaten streak against New York from Aug. 9, 1998-July 2, 2003, posting a 6-0-4 record during that stretch. The 10-game unbeaten streak is the third-longest streak against one opponent in club history … New York and San Jose had two classic shootouts in 2003 and 2004. On July 2, 2003, the Quakes and then MetroStars tied 4-4 at Giants Stadium with Landon Donovan tying the game in stoppage time. The following year, the two teams combined for 10 goals in a 5-5 tie at Spartan Stadium on May 8. Cornell Glen tied the game for New York in the final minutes … The two teams met in the MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time on Oct. 30, 2010 at Buck Shaw Stadium in the first leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
