Busch to Auction Gear for Navy SEAL Foundation
To honor all United States servicemen and women, San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Busch will wear commemorative gloves and cleats during the Quakes match on Saturday, Sept. 10 against the Chicago Fire. Busch’s gloves will feature a Special Operations patch, while his cleats will bear a message to honor victims of 9/11 in recognition of the 10-year anniversary on Sept. 11, 2011. At the game on Sept. 10, fans can participate in a silent auction to win the cleats and the gloves from the first half of the match, signed by Busch. Additionally, Busch’s jersey from the match and gloves and cleats from the second half, all signed by Busch, will be auctioned on eBay starting on Tuesday, Sept. 13. All proceeds from the auctions will benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation.

Wondo Gets Back on Scoresheet
Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski got back on the scoresheet with a crucial 87th-minute equalizer against Toronto FC on Aug. 27 at BMO Field. San Jose’s leading scorer found the back of the net for the ninth time in 2011 and the first time in five games, tapping home a Bobby Burling pass to the back post.

Bobby Burling Records First Assist of 2011
Earthquakes defender Bobby Burling recorded his first assist of 2011 against Toronto FC on Aug. 27 when he directed a header toward Chris Wondolowski that San Jose’s leading scorer buried in the back of the net. The goal leveled the sides for a 1-1 conclusion.

Two Earthquakes Players Called to US Residency Program
San Jose Earthquakes Academy goalkeeper Nedin Tucakovic and forward Angel Heredia have been selected to train with the U.S. National Team U-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla. for the upcoming school year. Heredia and Tucakovic are the second Quakes combination in two years to receive invites from the U-17 Residency Program. Last year, goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh spent a season in Bradenton and right back Travis Pillon turned down an invitation to remain in camp with San Jose.

Wondolowski Nears Donovan for No. 2 on Quakes’ All-Time Scoring Chart
San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski continues to inch up the franchise’s all-time scoring charts. Wondo added to his total with a goal against Toronto FC in a 1-1 draw on Aug. 27 at BMO Field in Toronto, giving him a total of 30 with the Quakes. The Danville, Calif. native recently passed Dwayne De Rosario, who scored 27 for the team from 2001-2005, for No. 3 on the all-time list. Next up is Landon Donovan, who scored 32 goals in his Earthquakes career. The career leader for the Quakes is Ronald Cerritos, who notched 61 from 1997-2001 and in 2005.

Hernandez Moves Up All-Time Starts List
Jason Hernandez moved to within six starts of No. 8 on the Earthquakes’ all-time starts list on Saturday with his 90 minutes played against Toronto FC. The defender has started 94 games since joining San Jose at the outset of the 2008 campaign. Next on the list is Eddie Lewis who started 100 games during his Quakes career from 1996-1999.

Quakes Return Home Before Road Stretch
The Earthquakes return home to face the Chicago Fire on Sept. 10 at Buck Shaw Stadium following a two-game road stretch that included tilts at the LA Galaxy and Toronto FC. After hosting Chicago, five of the Quakes’ final seven games will be on the road, including trips to face Houston Dynamo, Portland Timbers, Colorado Rapids, New England Revolution and Seattle Sounders FC.
