Academy: Callinan seeing time at Stanford

Jimmy Callinan - Stanford University

Earthquakes Academy alumnus Jimmy Callinan suited up for San Jose last season and is now eight games into his college career at Stanford University.

Callinan has appeared in all eight games for a Cardinal team that is 3-4-1 that opens Pac-12 play on Friday, Sept. 30 at San Diego State. The true freshman has fired five shots, two on goal, while coming off the bench in each of his appearances. He is one of just three freshmen on the squad to suit up in all of Stanford's games this season.

While with the Earthquakes Academy, Callinan was a key component for San Jose's U-18s. He also played in three Reserve League games for the Earthquakes, including a 2-1 win against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on March 22, a 1-0 loss against Seattle Sounders FC on April 3 and a 3-1 win against Chivas USA on April 23.

Callinan and Stanford's next home game is Oct. 9 against Bay Area rival Cal at 6 p.m. PT.
