Earthquakes set to host Viet Heritage Night on Oct. 22

Dzung Tran

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes will host Viet Heritage Night on Oct. 22 at Buck Shaw Stadium when they play FC Dallas in the final home game of the 2011 regular season. The event will feature an autograph session with former Quakes player Dzung Tran, an appearance by Miss Viet NorCal and Vietnamese themed music, dance and martial arts demonstrations in the Epicenter Fan Zone before kickoff.

Tran suited up for San Jose in 1985, 1986 and 1988 when the club was a part of the Western Soccer Alliance and played for the San Francisco Bay Blackhawks in 1991. Born in Vietnam, he moved to the United States in 1978 and grew up in Livermore and San Jose. He is the only player from Vietnam to play for the Earthquakes dating back to the club’s roots in the North American Soccer League.

The charitable evening will include a special ticket offer of $18 for Goal View seats with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Hep B Free Santa Clara County.
