Applied Materials SSG Race Against Hunger
Who: 
Brad Ring and “Q”
What: Applied Materials senior executives will race through an obstacle course in the SSG Race Against Hunger. One segment of the course will include a soccer element, in which Earthquakes midfielder Brad Ring will assist the contestants. Participation will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank.
Location: 974 E. Arques Ave., Sunnyvale, Calif.
When: Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 1-2:30 p.m.
Details: Brad Ring Ring will serve as a celebrity staffer on the Applied Materials SSG Race Against Hunger course. Afterward, he will mingle with employees and sign autographs. “Q” will also be on hand to help executives through the course.

Details: The Earthquakes will be auctioning off a team-signed jersey as part of the event. The club’s speed-kick inflatable will also be on site. 


Earthquakes Youth Academy Update

On Break Until the New Year
The San Jose Earthquakes Youth Academy will be off through the rest of December following their participation in the 2011 Development Academy Winter Showcase in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. The U-16s and U-18s will continue their season on Jan. 21, 2012 against Santa Cruz Breakers.

Defender Chris Leitch Selected by LA Galaxy in MLS Re-Entry Draft
Earthquakes defender Chris Leitch was selected by the LA Galaxy in Monday’s MLS Re-Entry Draft. Leitch played in 58 games and had eight assists during three seasons with San Jose.


Goalkeeper David Bingham Called to U.S. U-23 Camp
San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham’s busy offseason will continue with another U.S. Under-23 National Team camp as coach Caleb Porter unveiled his list of 28 names for an eight-day December training session to further evaluate players ahead of 2012 Olympic qualifying.


Bingham will practice with the U.S. from Dec. 15-23 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. He will join the U-23s at the conclusion of his tour with the MLS Generation adidas squad in Holland ending on Dec. 15. San Jose’s young goalkeeper was one of 12 players named who participated in Porter’s first training camp in Germany from Nov. 7-16.


MLS Unveils New Match Ball for 2012
The Jabulani will no longer be the official match ball of MLS, the league revealed last week. Taking its place will be the adidas PRIME. The PRIME will feature a new panel design, a matte finish designed for better grip and a graphic look that employs the colors of the MLS logo and elements from the MLS Cup trophy.


New Stadium Luxury Suites On Sale
The Earthquakes’ one-of-a kind luxury suites for the club’s new stadium went on sale to Season Ticket Holders on Friday, Dec. 2. Unlike any other experience in American professional sports, the suites will place fans directly next to the field with private bar and lounge access just yards from the action. Suites include: 17 seats with six additional tickets for all stadium events, in-suite catering, private bar and lounge area with a High Definition television. Suite holders will also have the ability to customize the interior and will enjoy year-round access to the suite for corporate events for client meetings. 2012 Season Opener
For the fourth consecutive season, the Earthquakes will host a game on MLS Opening Day on March 10, 2012 at Buck Shaw Stadium. Times, opponents, and national broadcast information for these games will be included in the entire regular season schedule which will be announced upon its completion in the coming weeks. Each club will play 34 games in the 2012 MLS Regular Season.


U14 Pre-Academy Regional Development Schools
The Earthquakes will establish seven U14 Pre-Academy Regional Development Schools around Northern California as they continue to build their youth system, the club announced on Wednesday, Nov. 30. Locations will include Central Valley, East Bay, Marin, Mountain View, Sacramento, San Jose and Tracy. Each training center will be operated by the Earthquakes and will compete in an Earthquakes Pre-Academy League against affiliated programs. Earthquakes President David Kaval’s office hours will continue during the offseason. Fans can drop by his office at 451 El Camino Real, Suite 220 in Santa Clara, Calif. Mondays between 3 and 5 p.m. PT. Participants will be seen on a first come, first serve basis.


Earthquakes Hold No. 6 Overall Pick in SuperDraft
The San Jose Earthquakes will be sixth on the board when the 2012 MLS SuperDraft takes place in Kansas City on Jan. 12. The expansion Montreal Impact hold the No. 1 overall pick for the national televised event on ESPN2. This year’s draft has been reduced to two rounds. The Earthquakes have picked within the top-six in nine previous MLS drafts. The club’s last top-six pick was Ike Opara at No. 3 overall in 2010. San Jose has picked out of the No. 6 slot twice, selecting Luchi Gonzalez in 2002 and Todd Dunivant in 2003.
