Recap: Quakes, AIK draw 0-0 in Portland

Ty Harden vs. AIK 022013

PORTLAND, Ore. – The San Jose Earthquakes drew 0-0 with AIK (Sweden) in their second game of the Portland Preseason Tournament at JELD-WEN Field Wednesday night.

David Bingham recorded the clean sheet for San Jose in goal. The second-year keeper made four saves on the night.

The Earthquakes’ best two looks at goal came from non-roster invitee John Bostock in the first half. Bostock took a pass from Abu Tommy and maneuvered in tight quarters to poke a shot on target that was parried wide by AIK goalkeeper Kyriakos Stamapolous. Bostock had another look in the 36th minute, firing with his left foot from the top of the box to force another diving save from Stamatopoulos.

San Jose held most of the possession in the second half while playing a man up after AIK’s Ibrahim Moro was sent off with a red card, but couldn’t find the net.

The Earthquakes play their final preseason game on Saturday against FC Dallas at JELD-WEN Field (2:30 p.m. PT / livestream at sjearthquakes.com). San Jose opens its regular season on Sunday, March 3 against Real Salt Lake, presented by Visa.
