PORTLAND, Ore. – Five different San Jose Earthquakes players found the net in a 5-0 win to close out the preseason against Chivas USA at Portland’s JELD-WEN Field on Sunday.

Chris Wondolowski opened the barrage with a left-footed blast from just inside the area in the 27th minute. Shea Salinas slid a pass to Wondolowski on the left to start the sequence and the two-time MLS leading goal scorer pounded a shot low and to the far post for his fourth strike of the preseason.

The Earthquakes exploded for four goals in the second half, starting with Justin Morrow in the 52nd minute. Salinas was again in the mix, this time taking the ball end-to-end to win a corner kick. Chavez took the set piece, sending an in-swinger toward the near post that Ramiro Corrales re-directed with a glancing header. Morrow found himself open at the back post and headed in his first goal of the preseason.

San Jose created a flurry of scoring chances in the final 10 minutes. Tressor Moreno made it 3-0 in the 80th minute, tucking away a shot to the far post after Ramiro Corrales picked out the Colombian with a pass near the edge of the box.

Not long after, Sercan Guvenisik tacked on another. The Turkish forward navigated a give-and-go with Moreno and sent his finish low to the far post to give San Jose a 4-0 lead in the 84th minute.

Finally, in the 88th minute, Sam Garza capped the scoring after Guvenisik sprung the rookie midfielder with a through ball from the right wing. Garza took a touch before slotting a shot from a tight angle to make it 5-0 San Jose.

San Jose will return to the field for MLS First Kick on March 10 against the New England Revolution at Buck Shaw Stadium. The match will be broadcast live on Comcast SportsNet California, 1590 KLIV and 1370 KZSF with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. PT.
