SAN JOSE, Calif. - Visa, DZH Phillips and Fight the Flop won championships at the 2012 Corporate Cup hosted by the San Jose Earthquakes on July 28 at the club's training facility.
Visa outscored opponents 10-8 in group play en route to a 2-1-1 record. They then won two playoff games to take the Co-Ed title, slipping past Shutterly 3-2 in the semifinal and upending defending champs V&M Construction by the same score in the final game.
Meanwhile, in the Men's Corporate bracket, DZH Phillips finished group play with a 2-1 record and advanced to the semifinal based on goal differential. From there, they dispatched a ScanDisk squad that ran through group play with a 3-0 record and +10 goal differential by a 5-1 margin. DZH went on to knock off another undefeated in the championship, earning a 3-2 result to take home the title.
Finally, in the Men's Open division, Fight the Flop defended their 2011 title with a dominant showing. They wrapped up group play with a 3-0 record and won the championship game by a 9-3 margin against Bruce's Tire. Fight the Flop finished the tournament with an incredible +18 goal differential in all matches.
