Gordon added to USMNT roster for Mexico friendly

CHICAGO - U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has added San Jose Earthquakes forward Alan Gordon to the training camp roster for the upcoming friendly against Mexico on Aug. 15 at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, Mexico, bringing the total to 23 players. Gordon becomes the 10th player from Major League Soccer to be invited into camp.


Gordon will join Earthquakes teammates Steven Beitashour and Chris Wondolowski in camp.


Gordon, 30, has amassed nine goals in 16 games in 2012, already surpassing his career best for a season. Gordon partners with ‘Quakes striker Chris Wondolowski, who leads the league in scoring with 17 goals. He will be seeking his first cap for the National Team.


Kickoff for the USA’s first friendly against Mexico on Mexican soil since 1984 is set for 5 p.m. PT, and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN2, ESPN3 and Univision. Fans can follow on ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker and Twitter @ussoccer.
