Colorado Rapids Scouting Report
Colorado (5-4-5, 20 pts.) is currently fifth in the Western Conference. After missing the playoffs in 2012, Colorado has brought in numerous playmakers including veteran forwards Edson Buddle and Atiba Harris. Harris leads the team with four goals while rookie-forward Deshorn Brown paces the team with four assists. The Rapids’ defense has been the strength of the club all season, as they’ve allowed the least amount of goals (12) in the Western Conference. The defense is led by Drew Moor, Marvell Wynn, Chris Klute and Brian Mullan, who have all started at least 10 games for the squad.
Of Note
- Mark Watson will be making his head-coaching debut after being an assistant coach with the club since 2010.
-The San Jose Earthquakes currently have two players that have played every minute of all 15 league matches this season, Chris Wondolowski and Jon Busch. They have played 1,350 minutes. Midfielder Sam Cronin is the only other player to have started all 15 league matches.
- Marvin Chavez has two goals and an assist in his last two games against Colorado.
- Ramiro Corrales has made a team-high 34 appearances against the Rapids since joining the league in 1996 – twice as many as the next player, Alan Gordon, who has made 17.
- Chris Wondolowski has six goals in five starts at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, including four goals last year.
