The accolades just keep coming in for Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski. For the third year in a row, he is nominated for the Best MLS Player at The 2013 ESPYS.
The reigning MLS MVP tied the League's single-season goal-scoring record last year with 27 goals, securing his second Budweiser Golden Boot award and lifting the Quakes to the Supporter's Shield. The 2012 MLS All-Star's 61 regular-season goals in the last three years are the most from any player in MLS history over a three-year period.
2013 marks the third year Chris Wondolowski has been nominated for an ESPY. His first was in 2011 after a standout 2010 season with the Quakes, earning his first Budeweiser Golden Boot award and a finalist for the Volkswagon MVP award.
The ESPYS presented by ESPN recognize individual and team athletic achievement during the past calendar year. These annual awards gather athletes and celebrities alike to celebrate major sports achievements and relive unforgettable moments. The 2013 ESPY Awards, hosted by Jon Hamm, will be held on Wednesday, July 17 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Others MLSers nominated for Best MLS Player include Sporting Kansas City's Graham Zusi and New York Red Bulls Thierry Henry.
