Earthquakes reveal CONCACAF Champions League schedule

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes revealed their full CONCACAF Champions League schedule on Monday with their first game set for Wednesday, Aug. 7 in Montreal against the Impact at 5 p.m. PT.


The Earthquakes qualified for the 2013-14 CONCACAF Champions League after winning Major League Soccer’s Supporters’ Shield last season, a trophy given to the team with the best regular season record. San Jose was drawn into Group 5 along with the Impact and Guatemala’s CD Heredia. Each team will face each other twice – at home and on the road – with the group winner advancing to an eight-team single-elimination tournament to be contested next year.


Champions League action starts on Aug. 7 in Montreal. San Jose hits the road again for their second fixture, a trip to Guatemala City to face CD Heredia on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. PT. The Earthquakes host their final two games, the first on Tuesday, Sept. 17 against the Impact followed by a Wednesday, Oct. 23 date with the CD Heredia. Both home games will be played at 7 p.m. PT at Buck Shaw Stadium.


The Earthquakes’ match against Montreal on Tuesday, Sept. 17 will be Bonus Game B for the club’s season ticket holders. Season ticket holders will also have the opportunity to purchase additional tickets for that match during an exclusive window starting on Monday, July 8 at 10 a.m. PT. The public on-sale date is Friday, July 12 at 10 a.m. PT.


Ticket details for the club’s second CONCACAF Champions League home game will be announced at a later date.
