No better way to kick off Devotion week on SJEarthquakes.com than the inspiring story of Troy Dayak.

After suffering a severe neck injury in 1996, Dayak's doctors said he was done with the sport forever. Dayak had a different idea in mind, though. He continued to train and kept up with his physical therapy with the hope of staying in soccer. A year after surgery, he went in for a routine exam, and the doctors were amazed. His spine has fused together, and he was cleared to play.

In his first season back, he won an MLS Cup and was awarded the 2001 MLS Comeback Player of the Year.

Watch as he tells the story of his injury, comeback and dedication to the San Jose Earthquakes.
