If you've been to Buck Shaw in the past two years, you already know the golden rule about watching an Earthquakes game: you can't leave early.
Considering that we've had not one but two 95th minute equalizers in the past week, that #neversaydie mentality is alive and well this season.
Still don't believe in Goonie Magic? Let us give you the facts:
In the past two years, we've claimed 17 stoppage-time goals in all competitions. 15 of those produced a win or a tie. Since the start of 2012, we've had 34 goals in MLS play tallied in the 76th minute or later and we're 15-0-10 when scoring past the 76th minute marker.
2012:
- 9 second-half stoppage-time goals in regular season, an MLS record (plus one more during first leg of the Western Conference Semifinal vs. LA.)
- 6-0-3 when we scored in second-half stoppage time
2013:
- 5 goals in second-half stoppage-time
- 2-0-2 when we scored in second-half stoppage time
Numbers don't lie. Next time you're at a Quakes match, don't leave before the final whistle. You never know what could happen.
