Having already secured their spot in this year’s FarWest Regional Championships, the U13 Quakes traveled to Sacramento for the California Regional League (CRL) Playoffs with the hopes of gaining some valuable experience. The event matched the U13 Quakes against two top ranked Southern California teams. After the weekend was done, the boys would add another title to their short history by defeating Surf I.E. 3-1 and Golden State FC 1-0 in the championship match.

“Our goal is to prepare our young players for the Development Academy system" said coach Jeff Jenkins. “We focus on playing meaningful games against top competition, not on obtaining a ton of points via tournament play. We are looking forward to representing CalNorth this June at Regionals and participating against some of the best teams in the Western United States.”

The U13 Quakes will travel to Regionals as CalNorth Champions while FC Golden State will travel as the CRL Wildcard.

The Earthquakes U13 Pre-Academy team is based in San Jose, Calif. and is composed of players from throughout Northern California. The Pre-Academy teams of the San Jose Earthquakes are charged with the mission of developing players for advancement within the Earthquakes’ youth organization.

The USYSA Far West Regional Championship will be held next June in Albuquerque and will feature the champions from fourteen western states, including clubs from Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
