Gorlitz to undergo season-ending surgery to repair torn ACL

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that German defender Andreas Gorlitz will undergo season-ending surgery on Friday, May 9 to repair a torn anterior-cruciate ligament in his right knee.


Gorlitz, 32, suffered the injury during Wednesday’s 0-0 draw against the Colorado Rapids at Buck Shaw Stadium. The former Bayern Munich right back made three appearances in his first season with the club. He signed on March 4, 2014 following a 12-year professional career in Germany.


Dr. Zack Vaughn will perform the procedure at Stanford Hospital.
