Last Game vs. Colorado
Earthquakes 1, Colorado Rapids 1; Sept. 27, 2014; Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo.
Atiba Harris scored in the 94th minute to rally the San Jose Earthquakes to a 1-1 draw against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The draw kept San Jose’s road unbeaten streak against the Rapids alive at six games. The Earthquakes are 3-0-3 in regular season games at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park since dropping a 1-0 result on Aug. 7, 2010. The Rapids took a temporary lead in the 84th minute thanks to a tidy finish by Panamanian international Gabriel Torres. Right back Chris Klute sent a cross to the near post on an overlapping run, finding Torres in stride. Torres tucked his shot away with a volley for his third goal of the season. Harris accounted for the late-game heroics in the fourth minute of second half stoppage time, slotting home his fourth goal of the season thanks to a brilliant pass from Matias Perez Garcia. The Argentinean attacker trapped a 60-yard free kick from Victor Bernardez and then slyly slipped a side-footed pass to Harris at the top of the box. Harris one-timed his shot, burying it into the left corner. Perez Garcia recorded his first career MLS assist in his first start since Aug. 16, 2014. He returned to the field on Sept. 20, 2014 in a substitute appearance against the Montreal Impact after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus on Aug. 20, 2014.
