The Captain Returns
San Jose is likely to welcome leading scorer Chris Wondolowski back into the starting XI after missing several games due to his United States National Team duties for Copa America Centenario. San Jose was winless in the four matches without him, going 0-1-3 and scoring three total goals in that span. Wondolowski has had success against Chicago in the past, with his five goals tied for second among all active players.

It’s Quincy Time
Friday marks the first time forward Quincy Amarikwa will face off against his former team since being traded from Chicago to San Jose in the middle of last season. In two and a half seasons with the Fire, he scored 11 goals and added six assists. Since joining the Quakes, he has become a fixture in the starting XI, tallying seven goals and seven assists in 29 appearances.

First Friday
The match against Chicago marks the first on a Friday for the Earthquakes this season. The Quakes have won three straight Friday night matchups stretching back to August of last year.
Get the Win, Stay Undefeated vs. East
The Earthquakes are looking to stay undefeated against the Eastern Conference after starting the season with a 1-0-3 record. They are also still looking for their first win on the road this season, where they are currently 0-4-4. Though it won’t be an easy task playing on enemy turf, the Quakes haven’t lost to the Chicago Fire since 2013 and they are hoping to keep that streak alive.
