Lino Mfeka - Signing

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club has signed midfielder Lindo Mfeka to a multi-year contract.

Mfeka, 22, officially joins San Jose’s roster after the club selected him as the No. 28 overall pick in the 2017 Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

“Lindo is a promising talent that took on great challenges leaving his family at a young age to pursue his dream to play professional football one day,” said Earthquakes general manager Jesse Fioranelli. “In an effort to consider Lindo joining our first team in 2018, we will follow and accompany him closely this season. He will play extensive minutes with Reno and we are looking forward to his development as a professional.”

“We are happy to add Lindo to our team,” said head coach Dominic Kinnear. “We’re looking forward to his contributions and watching how he grows as a player.”

The Durban, South Africa native played four seasons at the University of South Florida. A left-footed midfielder, Mfeka made 69 starts in 72 total appearances, scoring 16 goals and adding 18 assists. He was named First Team All-American Athletic Conference in 2016, as well as an NSCAA Second Team All-East Region selection.
