Opara scores in 2-1 US U-23 win vs. FCD

DALLAS - Ike Opara scored in a 2-1 win for the U.S. U-23s against FC Dallas on Wednesday at FC Dallas Stadium.

Opara is in camp with the U.S. through a Feb. 29 friendly against the Mexican U-23s in Dallas. Head coach Caleb Porter is working to finalize a roster ahead of CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying in March.

The Hoops struck first with Andrew Jacobson beating his defender before finishing in the 15th minute to give FC Dallas a 1-0 advantage. However, Opara would equalize soon after, heading home a corner kick from Freddy Adu in the 19th minute.

Preseason: Lenhart, Ring score in 2-0 win vs. CHI

OXNARD, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2012) – Steven Lenhart and Brad Ring scored in a 2-0 win against the Chicago Fire at Oxnard Community College on Saturday, the club's final day in Southern California.

The Quakes got on the board early as left back Ramiro Corrales pushed up the flank before whipping in a swerving ball for Lenhart. The target striker lunged from the six-yard box to nod the ball just inside the back post for an initial 1-0 lead in the third minute.

Opara named to U.S. Olympic camp roster

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes defender Ike Opara has been selected to join the U.S. Olympic squad in camp from Feb. 19-29 as head coach Caleb Porter works to finalize a roster ahead of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2012 Summer Games.

The camp culminates with a friendly against Olympic hopefuls from Mexico on Feb. 29 at FC Dallas Stadium. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on Galavision. The Americans will also scrimmage against FC Dallas and the San Antonio Scorpions on Feb. 22 and Feb. 24, respectively.

Earthquakes re-acquire Spurs midfielder Dawkins

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club has re-acquired midfielder Simon Dawkins on loan from club partner Tottenham Hotspur. Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Dawkins, 24, was recently named to Tottenham Hotspur’s 25-man roster following the conclusion of the January transfer window in England. He scored six goals and had two assists for San Jose in 26 games last season, providing a spark in the midfield while spending time at central midfield before settling in wide left.

The season might not start for another 27 days, but the Quakes Front Office is in midseason form while taking on the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Colorado Rapids in a knock-down-drag-out affair to see who can sell more season tickets in one week.

Fans should know that we are having a great offseason as far as ticket sales go. We have already sold more new season tickets than we did all of last year. This is a testament to our fans and their passion for Quakes soccer as well as the hard work and many long hours that our front office staff puts in.
