Jyri Nieminen

Goalkeeper Coach

Jyri Nieminen joins San Jose having served as the goalkeeper coach for the Aspire Academy and Qatar U-17 National Team since 2015, where he specialized in elite player development and game analysis.

From 2014-15, Nieminen was the head of goalkeeping for Estonia’s U-17, U-19, U-21 and U-23 sides, overseeing all goalkeeper training, including game analysis, and coaching education for the Estonian Football Association. He also served as the goalkeeper coach of the U-15 and U-17 academy squads of Finland’s FC Honka in 2012 and then moved to the First Team of FC TPS Turku in Finland from 2013 to 2014, where he served as a goalkeeper coach and assistant coach.

Nieminen received his UEFA A Goalkeeping license in 2016, possesses a degree in physical education and has a working knowledge of six languages, including fluency in English, Estonian and Finnish.
