SAN JOSE, Calif. — San Jose Earthquakes II fell to Austin FC II 1(4)-1(3) on Sunday night at Spartan Soccer Complex on the campus of San José State University in MLS NEXT Pro regular-season play.
The visitors took the lead in the first half when Stefan Dobrijevic found the back of the net in the 32nd minute. Quakes II captain Alejandro Cano secured the equalizer in the 53rd minute with an assist by San Jose midfielder Edwyn Mendoza.
With the scoreline level at the end of regulation, the match entered a penalty shootout. Austin FC II outscored the hosts 4-3 and took home the additional point.
Quakes II travels to face MNUFC2 on Saturday, Aug. 8. Kickoff will take place at 5 p.m. PT and will be broadcast via OneFootball, as well as on MLSNEXTPro.com.
