BLAINE, Minn. — San Jose Earthquakes II defeated MNUFC2 1(3)-1(1) on Saturday night at National Sports Center Stadium in MLS NEXT Pro regular-season play.
The hosts opened the scoring early in the second half when Samuel Vigilante found the back of the net in the 48th minute. Quakes II leveled the score when Zach Bohane netted the equalizer in the 63rd minute.
With the scoreline level at the end of regulation, the match entered a penalty shootout. The visitors outscored MNUFC2 3-1 and took home the additional point with the help of three PK saves by San Jose goalkeeper Nate Crockford.
Quakes II remain in 8th place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference and 5th place in the Pacific Division (8-7-5). MNUFC2 remains in 9th place in the MLSNP Western Conference and 4th place in the Frontier Division (8-10-4).
Quakes II travels home to face St Louis CITY2 on Sunday, Aug. 16. Kickoff from San José State University’s Spartan Soccer Complex will take place at 7:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast via OneFootball, as well as on MLSNEXTPro.com.
