SAN JOSE, Calif. – Earthquakes II drew 1-1 to Tacoma Defiance in regulation and won 6-5 in a penalty shootout on Sunday afternoon at PayPal Park. Quakes II opened the scoring in the 29th minute from Will Richmond volleying a cross from Jack Skahan to take the lead. Tacoma found the equalizer in the 56th minute from a low shot into the bottom corner to force a penalty shootout. Earthquakes II won the shootout 6-5 to earn two points at home with two crucial saves from goalkeeper Emi Ochoa and a winning penalty shot from defender Aaron Edwards.
Earthquakes II will now travel to face North Texas SC on Friday, June 16. The match will kick off from Choctaw Stadium in Arlington, Texas, at 5:30 p.m. PT and will be streamed live on MLSNEXTPro.com.
