Quotes from San Jose's 1-0 win over the Colorado Rapids Saturday night at Buck Shaw Stadium. Chris Wondolowski scored in his third match-in-a-row to lift San Jose before a home crowd. Ryan Johnson notched an assist on the goal.

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES HEAD COACH FRANK YALLOP
On the game:
“It was a fantastic result. We didn’t play particularly well, but it was a great three points. We’ve had a few days where we did play well and lost so to win today was very rewarding for us as a team. We saw good defending, good shape, and good team play which helped to keep their chances down despite them having good ball possession. We’re starting to play well next to each other and trust each other, which is important. We didn’t miss a beat by having players out of the lineup, so I felt tonight was a good indication of our depth and our squad.”

On Chris Wondolowski’s development this year:
“Wondo’s a good player, that’s the reason he’s here and I’m very happy for him. He’s the unsung hero who doesn’t get much press, doesn’t say much, just works really hard. It’s nice for a player like him to get the headline, and he deserves it. Those have been three terrific goals he’s scored, and again I’m really happy for him.”

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES FORWARD CHRIS WONDOLOWSKI
On his third goal in three games:
“It means a lot. But the biggest thing is to have two wins in the three matches, that’s the big one for me. So hopefully we can keep building on those (wins). It wasn’t the best game that we played all year, but it was a workman-like game. To be honest, it was one of the proudest wins I have had.”

On lack of scoring chances for Colorado:
“We kind of sorted it out. We had a good shape and they weren’t able to penetrate us. They were able to keep a fair amount of possession all around us, but our back four and our midfield played a heck of a game.”

SAN JOSE EARTHQAUKES GOALKEEPER JOE CANNON
On his second consecutive home shutout:
“The significance is the guys worked their tails off. From the top to the back, they didn’t see too many good looks at the goal. It was a total team effort; it was good to see”.

On the team’s difference from this year to last:
“I think we are more mature; we had to go through some growing pains. Colorado was coming in here counting on gaining a point. We have gotten up on them the last two years and they’ve come out of here with a point. Tonight we showed good resilience and were in good shape all night. We were very disciplined and we didn’t give them much and I think that is the maturity of this team, that’s the difference”.
