The match will be available on MLS Direct Kick and 1220 KDOW. Saturday’s game begins a stretch in which the Earthquakes will play three of their next four games on the road. Earlier this season, Toronto FC handed the Earthquakes a 3-1 defeat at Buck Shaw Stadium on Saturday, May 29th. The San Jose Earthquakes picked up another important three points in the playoff chase, defeating the Philadelphia Union 1-0 at Buck Shaw Stadium on Wednesday night. The Quakes posted their fourth straight shutout at home and completed the season sweep of the Union. Chris Wondolowski netted his ninth goal of the season and sixth game-winner to lead San Jose to the win. Wondolowski is now tied for first in the league in game-winning goals. The Quakes posted their 10th shutout of the year Wednesday and are now one of five teams in the league in double digits in shutouts. The all-time club record for shutouts is 12, set in 2005.

Toronto marched into Buck Shaw Stadium and collected three valuable road points against the San Jose
Earthquakes on Saturday night as Dwayne De Rosario grabbed a brace to put his team in second place in the Eastern Conference. De Rosario - introduced in the second half after just returning from Canadian National Team duty - collected a long ball on a break away in the 66th minute and coolly slotted the game winner past Quakes keeper Joe Cannon. He also netted Toronto’s final goal in added time to seal the 3-1 victory. The tempo of the match turned in the 31st minute, when Toronto’s Chad Barrett opened the scoring. Barrett pounced on a header from San Jose defender Jason Hernandez that was intended for Joe Cannon and rolled a slow dribbler past him, who had come charging off his line. Toronto looked like it might run away with the game when De Rosario scored his first goal of the match after a long ball from right back Dan Gargan sent him on a one-on-one against Cannon. De Rosario ran past his defender and, with one touch, slipped the ball past Cannon to nab his seventh goal of the season. San Jose refused to give up, however, and kept the final minutes interesting. In the 76th minute, Corrales netted a header on a corner kick from Convey. That goal gave San Jose an extra boost in the final minutes of play and, in an all out effort to pull level, the home team switched to a five-man attack and proceeded to bombard Toronto’s back line for the rest of the match. Toronto's defense, behind Frei's command, held up the fort well and, with the game about to end, Cannon left his spot under the San Jose goal and joined the attack in a last-ditch effort to pull level. The move backfired, though, as the keeper slipped and hit the turf on the Quakes’ last possession of the match. De Rosario took advantage of the opportunity and scored his second of the match as he simply passed the ball into an empty net.

Quakes Set Shutout Record Since Return
With a 1-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday, September 15th, the San Jose Earthquakes set the record for shutouts in a season since the team’s return in 2008 with their 10th clean sheet of the season. The all-time club record for shutouts in franchise history for a season is 12, set in 2005. Additionally, the Earthquakes are now one of only five teams in the league with double digit shutouts. San Jose defender Brandon McDonald made his 50th career start in the Earthquakes’ 1-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday, September 15th. McDonald already set another career milestone when he made the 50th appearance of his career on July 31st against Seattle Sounders FC. McDonald is playing in his third MLS season, second with the Earthquakes.

Wondo Tied For First in Game-Winning Goals
San Jose forward Chris Wondolowski is currently tied for the league lead in game-winning goals with six, the latest coming in the Earthquakes’ 1-0 win over the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday, September 15th. Edson Buddle of the Los Angeles Galaxy also has six game-winning goals. Wondolowski has nine goals overall in 21 games this season, which has him tied for seventh in the league in scoring.
Alvarez Notches First Assist
Quakes midfielder Arturo Alvarez notched his first assist of the season when he set up Chris Wondolowski’s game-winner on Wednesday, Sept. 15 against the Philadelphia Union. Alvarez sent a left-footed cross in that found Wondolowski’s head in the 69th minute for the Quakes only goal against the Union.
Convey Ranks Tied for Third in Assists, Third in Game-Winning Assists
San Jose midfielder Bobby Convey currently ranks tied for third in assists in MLS with nine, along with Fredy Montero of Seattle Sounders FC and David Ferreira of FC Dallas. Landon Donovan of the Los Angeles Galaxy leads the league with 14, followed by Sebastien Le Toux of the Philadelphia Union (10). Convey also ranks third in MLS in game-winning assists with four, behind Donovan and Ferreira (5).

San Jose goalkeeper Jon Busch currently ranks fourth in goals against average (0.82) and third in saves percentage (78.8). Busch has amassed a record of 4-3-4 in 11 games this season while notching four shutouts.

With a 1-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday, September 15th, the San Jose Earthquakes improved their record in one-goal games to 8-3-0, the third best record in the MLS. The Columbus Crew have the best record (7-2-0), followed by FC Dallas (6-2-0).
Morrow Continues to Play Well For FC Tampa Bay
Defender Justin Morrow started and played the full 90 minutes for the third consecutive game for the FC Tampa Bay Rowdies on Sunday, September 19th in a 3-0 loss to the Montreal Impact. Morrow was loaned to the Rowdies of the USSF D-2 by the Earthquakes on September 7th. Morrow, a rookie drafted in the second round (28th overall) by the Earthquakes in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, appeared in two regular season matches, two exhibitions and one U.S. Open Cup play-in game.
Earthquakes, Club Quake and SSV Team up for LLS Light the Night Walk
The San Jose Earthquakes announced that they have partnered with their supporter’s group, Club Quake, and the Soccer Silicon Valley Community Foundation for the third straight year to participate in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk on Saturday, Oct. 23 in San Jose. Earthquakes players, members of the team’s front office, along with Earthquakes fans will walk in the event that raises funds and awareness for blood cancers. This year the team will walk in honor of former Earthquakes player Joe Vide, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma earlier this year. The Earthquakes will also host The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) at Buck Shaw Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 21 and Saturday, Sept. 11. Six-year old Aidan Bowen, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2007, will perform the honorary First Kick at this Saturday’s game against the LA Galaxy. At the following match on Sept. 11 against FC Dallas, the Earthquakes will also host a silent auction for signed Earthquakes jerseys. Proceeds from the auction will benefit both LLS and the San Jose Earthquakes Community Fund. Fans will be able to sign up for the Light The Night Walk at the LLS booth in the pregame vendor area this weekend and on Sept. 11.
